Armed police swiftly responded, apprehending a suspect and confiscating a knife. Mersey Police have cordoned off the area around Hart Street, assuring the public that there is “no wider threat.” Home Secretary Yvette Cooper expressed her profound concern over the attack.

Colin Parry, owner of Masters Vehicle Body Repairs on Hart Street, described the scene as a “horror movie,” with six or seven young girls suffering stab wounds. He recounted the heartbreaking arrival of distressed mothers, stating, “The mothers are coming here now and screaming. It is like a scene from a horror movie. Police have got him. It’s like something from America, not like sunny Southport.”

A staff member at The Bridge Cafe on Hart Street described the chaos to MailOnline: “We were told somebody’s been stabbing children. It’s chocka. It’s all cordoned off, police cars at every junction. Parents are stood outside waiting.” A local parent shared that his daughter, who was at the workshop, managed to escape and is now traumatized but safe.

Emergency services, including the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS), responded promptly with 13 ambulances, specialized resources, and air support. NWAS reported that eight patients with stab injuries were transported to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Aintree University Hospital, and Southport and Formby Hospital.
